Kenyans in Ireland Welfare Group
The Kenyans in Welfare Group is a support initiative operated via WhatsApp, with a capped membership of 100 adult members per group. Managed under the KenyansinIreland.ie platform, the group's core mission is to stand with fellow Kenyans in Ireland during moments of bereavement, offering emotional and financial solidarity when a member loses a close loved one.
Objective
To offer structured, collective support during times of sorrow—specifically in the unfortunate event of the death of a member’s:
- Parent
- Spouse
- Child
- Principal (registered) member
While we hope to never face such losses, we recognize that death is a sacred and inevitable part of life, reconnecting us with our Creator.
How It Works
- Registration
- Interested members fill out a registration form.
- Each successful applicant receives a unique membership number, linked to their specific welfare group.
- A one-time technology and admin fee will be charged upon joining. This fee is to supports hosting the welfare platform, welfare-related email services, occasional compensation for a part-time admin and ongoing digital platform development.
- Contribution Structure
In the event of a verified bereavement, each member in the group contributes directly to the affected member through their Revolut or preferred payment method:
- €25 for the death of a member’s parent, child or spouse
- €50 for the death of the principal (registered) member
Upon payment, each contributor updates on the WhatsApp group.
**Note that WhatsApp membership is only open to Irish phone numbers and correspondence is strictly limited to welfare-related issues.
How to Claim
- Email info@kenyansinireland.ie with a brief notification of the loss.
- The KenyansinIreland.ie Welfare Admin Team will begin a verification process.
- Once verified, the contribution request will be initiated among group members.
Group Structure and Oversight
- Each welfare group has an assigned Group Leader for day-to-day coordination.
- Overall supervision and administration are handled by the KenyansinIreland.ie team, ensuring transparency and consistency across all groups.
This welfare group is a testament to our shared values of community, compassion, and collective responsibility. Together, we strive to ensure that no Kenyan in Ireland walks alone during life’s most painful transitions.
