Kenyans in Ireland Welfare Group

Kenyans in Ireland Welfare Group

The Kenyans in Welfare Group is a support initiative operated via WhatsApp, with a capped membership of 100 young adult members per group. Managed under the KenyansinIreland.ie platform, the group's core mission is to stand with fellow Kenyans in Ireland during moments of bereavement, offering emotional and financial solidarity when a member loses a close loved one.

Objective

To offer structured, collective support during times of sorrow—specifically in the unfortunate event of the death of a member’s:

  • Parent

  • Spouse

  • Child

  • Principal (registered) member

While we hope to never face such losses, we recognize that death is a sacred and inevitable part of life, reconnecting us with our Creator.

How It Works

1. Registration

  • Interested members fill out a registration form.

  • Each successful applicant receives a unique membership number, linked to their specific welfare group.

  • A €5 annual technology and admin fee for adults above 40 yrs and €4 for students and adults below 40 yrs charged upon joining. This fee supports:

    • Hosting of the KenyansinIreland.ie website

    • Welfare-related email services

    • Occasional compensation for a part-time admin

    • Ongoing digital platform development

2. Contribution Structure

In the event of a verified bereavement, each member in the group contributes:

  • €25 for the death of a member’s parent

  • €45 for the death of a child

  • €55 for the death of a spouse
  • €70 for the death of the principal (registered) member

The collected amount is then sent to the affected member to ease the burden during this difficult time.

How to Claim

  • Email welfare@kenyansinireland.ie with a brief notification of the loss.

  • The KenyansinIreland.ie Welfare Admin Team will begin a verification process.

  • Once verified, the contribution request will be initiated among group members.

Group Structure and Oversight

  • Each welfare group has an assigned Group Leader for day-to-day coordination.

  • Overall supervision and administration are handled by the KenyansinIreland.ie team, ensuring transparency and consistency across all groups.

This welfare group is a testament to our shared values of community, compassion, and collective responsibility. Together, we strive to ensure that no Kenyan in Ireland walks alone during life’s most painful transitions.
